aagh! i hadn't read your story until this morning, silkn, and decided to read it all in one go. all i can say is WOW! i wish you had been the screenwriter for the film, too! now i'm hooked! i keep wondering what aspects of the film you are going to incorporate next - will mandy and curt share their tortured embrace (doesn't seem likely, considering their history)? will curt and arthur ascend to the rooftop for their night of passion (and how would that affect the possibility of a brian/curt reconciliation?)? will curt learn of brian's presence at the concert? will it be too late? aagh! this is driving me nuts!

what i also find interesting is that in your interpretation of the film (or your re-inventing of the story), and in most other people's opinion, the breakup is ultimately brian's fault, while curt is more the martyr (if one had to choose sides, which i don't think you do in the story, instead making both characters flawed, realistic and very sympathetic). while i believe that both of them should have communicated better, after watching the film my sympathies lied more with brian (though i certainly felt for both of them). see, in my mind, after the scene in the recording studio, brian explains to curt that jerry is cutting him loose, but that brian still wants to be with him. this hurts curt's pride, as he doesn't want to simply be brian slade's boyfriend. also, he feels betrayed that brian didn't defend him to jerry, and that brian seems to agree with jerry that curt is washed up. curt gets angry and storms out, and this makes brian think that curt was only with him for the record deal - suddenly, when the record deal falls through, curt makes an abrupt, angry departure - i can understand how brian might feel that curt had only been using him to salvage his career, even though i'm sure we all agree that this wasn't the case. i was probably way off, but todd left a lot up for interpretation in the film, and that was merely my initial take on it. i MUCH prefer yours, however, and can't wait to find out what happens next! thank you for writing this, and for doing it so beautifully!
