They showed the trailer before the Chris Rock documentary Good Hair also (which was fantastic btw). I saw it this past weekend. I wasn't crazy about the
trailer because other than a bunch of car explosions and shootings it doesn't really tell you what the story is. So it could be a bit better. But it's
not like I wasn't planning to see it anyway.

usually the less they show in the trailer, the more interested I am... because when I see a trailer and get the impression that they used all the best scenes
in it, the movie altogether must be crappy, and I didn't have that feeling here. and apart from that, it was funny! but you're right, it doesn't
really matter, lol

I agree the trailers can give away too much. The PG version of the FPWL trailer makes the movie look fun and fast, which I assume is what a lot of people want to see, but it's probably a bit more Travolta centered than the actual movie is. Interestingly, Lionsgate or Europa (not sure which) has tried to pull the longer, not-safe-for-work, version that shows a lot more of the plot. I gather this was prepared for some other purpose that to be a public trailer. But even while it isn't as well constructed it does show that there will be some twists to keep the story interesting (and of course it has more of the lovely Jonathan). Jellyroll, did you notice the public reaction to the trailer? I hope this movie will do well. |
