- Board Guidelines
The JRMfansite message board is a large and active message board with fans all over the world discussing, debating and forming friendships daily. Please be aware of the following before joining the fun:
- First, in order to participate in discussions, you need to register a global account with ezboard, which is the host of this message board.
- When you register, you must agree to ezboard's terms of service and declare that you over 13 years old. In their terms of service, it in part states:
You agree to not use the ezboard to
(a) upload, post, email or otherwise transmit any Content that is unlawful, threatening, abusive, tortuous, defamatory, obscene, libelous, or invasive of another's privacy;

- Further, in order to maintain an organized and fun message board, there a number of very specific rules and guidelines that all members must follow:- Profanity is allowed as long as it's not abused. Further, any posts that attack any of Jonathan's girlfriends (past or present) will also be addressed in the same manner.
- One fun feature of this Board are personal icons and signatures. You are allowed to choose a personal icon and put images in your signature files. Please use common sense and do not use overly large image files because people surf this Board using all kinds of different connections from all over the world. Personal icons are 60x60 in dimension and are recommended to be less than 20K in size. Your signature image should also be under 20K in size. If your personal icon or signature file is outrageous in size you may be asked to change it.
- HAVE FUN! Differing opinions are welcomed and encouraged. We do not have all the same taste in movies and music. But every member has one thing in common: we enjoy the acting talents of Jonathan Rhys Meyers, whether we love Velvet Goldmine or think Tangled is a classic. We can hotly debate an issue but overall, we respect one another's opinions. If at any time posts go beyond healthy discussion, threads will be closed.
- Only in extreme cases are members given warnings or banned. If you cross any of the lines mentioned above and do not curb your behavior, you will be warned and may be banned. Fan Fiction
This is the place to post your fan fiction about Henry, Steerpike, Brian... have fun but please keep in mind the following:
1. Be sure to post an appropriate heading and rating. Let us know if it's going be a G (no sex or bad language), PG (kissing ok, limited bad language), PG-13 (some sexual situations, some bad language and more mature content), R (sex, bad language etc...) or NC-17 (not for the kiddies!) story in the topic heading. Here's an example of how a subject heading for a Velvet Goldmine rated R slash story called Curt's Boy:

2. Please include before your work the following:
Title, Category (what movie or character is the fic about -- like is it a Brian/Curt VG slash fic?), Author's Notes(if needed)
3. Out of respect for Jonathan, fanfics written about him or other actors are not welcome. However, poems based on your feelings for Jonathan or how you view him are perfectly acceptable. As well, original characters inspired by Jonathan are also welcome.
Fan Art
For this forum, please be aware that if you are posting large image files, they may take some time to load for those with slow connections. If the image you want to share is over 100K, please provide a link to the image instead of posting it OR provide warning that the image will take time to load. You can put the warning in the subject for the thread or in your actual post. Also if you used an image from a Jonny site and then altered it for your art, it might be nice to say what site you got the original image from. Please do not post any full nude artwork of Jonathan in this forum. If you want to link to this type of art, feel free to do so.

If you have any suggestions for the Board or technical questions or problems.
You might notice a thread you started has disappeared (there should be a place holder letting you know it's been moved). It's more than likely been moved (we only delete duplicate or inappropriate threads) to the forum it belongs in. If you see a thread of yours is closed with no explanation (we try to include explanations but sometimes we slip up) it is more than likely due to a thread asking a frequently asked question or a newbie thread.
Please try and post in the appropriate forum to help keep things a bit organized.
[top] - I'm new to the Board. What should I do?
Take a look at the various sections of this Board. Before starting a new thread, check out threads already started, not only on the first page of a forum, but a page or two back. You might find a thread topic that suits you. If you don't find an official discussion thread or a thread about the topic you want to discuss, feel free to start up a new thread. Another member or moderator will be sure to point you to a thread that's already been started (if that's the case, your original topic will be closed) or will start joining you in discussing all things Jonathan.
It might be a good idea to lurk for a few days before posting. This may help you familiarize yourself with the tone of the Board... What's appropriate? What isn't? We are a pretty familiar bunch of folks, with many of us posting for several years. You might feel a bit intimidated by that, but please, all new members are welcome to join our little community of Jonathan fans on the 'net. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the moderators or post in this very thread.

[top] - How do I post a photo of Jonathan from my computer onto the Board?
You need to upload the picture from your computer to the web. It must be possible to view your picture in a browser by typing http://... Most Internet Service Providers give their users free space to build a web site. You will need to check their homepage for instructions. Please note that many free webhosts do not allow pictures to be displayed elsewhere ("remote linking") and will not show up here.
[top] - I'd like to use this large image for my sig or board icon. Is that ok?
No. Please keep all images used in signature files under 30KB in size. The same goes for board icons. Large file sizes and board icons can cause havoc with some browsers and slow Internet connections. Please be considerate of other members.
Personal icons are displayed at 60X60 pixels only. If you use a larger image, it will still be displayed at 60X60 but everyone on this Board will still have to download the larger-sized image. Again, please be considerate and make a smaller-sized image.
There are a number of board icons have been made for anyone to use on this Board. Please check them out in the Board Icons For Your Use thread. Also, if you need help with a signature image, you can request one to be made specifically for you to use on this Board and to be hosted by the JRMfansite. Please visit the Custom Signatures thread.
[top] - The fabulous Mark Forum Read feature!
This is one of the most useful features on the Board. Using it means there is less chance that you will miss an important thread and that you will repeat a thread that has already been posted.
When a forum or a thread has new messages, a little yellow folder
appears next to it. Once you've gone through the new messages in a forum, click on the link Mark Forum Read at the top of the page of the forum. The yellow folder(s) will disappear until new messages are added.
[top] - Can I post images from other sites on the board?
Yes and no. This is a tricky question. It really depends on where you are linking the images from. Some sites allow it, some do not. You can post any images from the JRMfansite on this Board. However, you should be respectful of other webmasters. Posting a lot of images here takes up their bandwidth if they allow direct linking. You should ask first.
[top] - Can I use images I find on this board on my site?
You should ask the person who posted it where it's from. If the picture is from a news site like Yahoo, it's probably okay. If it's from a fansite, you should ask its webmaster.

Jonathan was born July 27, 1977.
[top] - What color are his eyes?
There is much debate over his eyes. Sometimes they are very blue... other times they appear a green or hazel color. So depending on the image, lighting and color clothing he wears, Jonathan's eyes can be a bit of a mystery.
[top] - How tall is he?
This is another area of debate. Jonathan is a very slim man and not at all tall compared to many other actors. It's a guess to say he is between 5' 9" and 5'10".
[top] - Where is he from? What kind of accent does he have?
Jonathan was born in Dublin but grew up in County Cork, Ireland. His accent is not as thick of a Cork accent as it used to be. Once he started acting, he tried to soften and loosen up his accent. You can hear his natural accent in the film Bend It Like Beckham.
[top] - How is Jonathan's heart condition?
Jonathan was born with a weak heart condition. He had to spend several of his early months in the hospital. He has stated in interviews that, "Yes. I had a weak heart and very weak kidneys, so I was kept for seven months in St. James' hospital, Dublin, where I was born. I was in an incubator." (Hot Press, December 2002) He has also stated he shouldn't really be such a smoker, but he continues to smoke anyways.
[top] - Who are Jonathan's brothers?
Jonathan has three younger brothers, Jaime, Alan and Paul. They are not into acting, but music. All 3 are in a band together called Suzy's Field and live in Jersey. Check out the BBC website to learn more about their band.
[top] - Is he gay?
This comes up continually on the Board. Most regular members are pretty tired of discussing this as it's pretty much been discussed to death on numerous occasions. Jonathan is not gay. He has had several girlfriends. However, Jonathan is a very open minded individual. He has stated in many interviews that he can appreciate male beauty and is not one to judge anyone's sexuality. He has played gay and bisexual characters in various films and has no problem with gay love scenes. Jonathan has also stated that he may be straight now, but in 10 years he could be gay or married with 10 kids. He has no idea where life's adventures may take him.
[top] - Who is he dating?
Jonathan is currently dating and living with student, Reena Hammer, in London. Reena is studying classics at King's College. They have been dating for 2 years.
In the past, Jonny dated Velvet Goldmine co-star Toni Collette for about 10 months. They met while filming Velvet Goldmine and fell in love. They have remained friends. Toni is now married.
Jonathan also dated and was engaged to model and student Cha Cha Seigne. Cha Cha is also from Ireland. They were involved for several years off and on.
During the fall of 2002 and the early part of 2003, Jonathan dated model Lisa Butcher. She was a few years older than Jonathan and had 2 young children from a previous marriage.

Jonathan currently resides in London when he's not off filming in various parts of the world. Film sets are often where he calls home. He still visits County Cork, Ireland whenever he gets a chance to spend time with family and friends. He also owns a place in Morocco, a favorite vacation spot for him.

Yes. Jonathan sings "Baby's On Fire" and "Tumbling Down" on the soundtrack (and in the movie too). He also sings "The Ballad of Maxwell Demon" and "Sebastian" in the movie. A different version performed by Shudder to Think is on the soundtrack. "Sebastian" is not on the soundtrack at all.

Jonathan has been up for or been offered numerous roles, such as All The Pretty Horses and Queen of the Damned. He has either not wanted the part or did not get the role. In the case of Queen of the Damned, he was offered the part of Lestat after many other actors had turned it down. He also turned it down because he did not like the script.
[top] - How do you pronounce Rhys? Is Rhys Meyers his real last name?
Rhys is pronounced Reese. Jonathan started his acting career going by the name "Jonathan Rhys-Myers". He added an e to Myers and dropped the hyphen as he continued to make movies for reasons unknown. Jonathan's real full name is Jonathan Michael Francis O'Keeffe. He changed his last name when he took up acting, taking his mother's maiden name of Meyers.
[top] - How did Jonathan get the scars on his face? his chest?
Though his scars are not that noticeable (one is on his forehead) and usually airbrushed out of images, I have been asked this question a lot. He got them from accidents as a child. Falling off chairs and all that. Nothing too earth shattering.
There is a new scar in the middle of his chest that can be seen in photos taken in late 2003. This scar is from surgery he had for an ulcer.
